2022 River Fishing Update

River Fishing Update

As always the DFO have this incredible kick you in the guts when you are down system in place. First they gave us hope that we could at least have a chance to catch sockeye after robbing us of Chinook fishing opportunities, despite having one of the best counts in over 40 years of record keeping. Now that it looks promising that the magic number of 800 Thousand might be reached, its time to throw a bucket of ice water on those hoping to go fishing.

The DFO opens commercial fishing on the Skeena to insure the 800 Number is not reached too quickly, heaven forbid people catch fish other than paying supermarkets for them.

Today we pasted the halfway mark, now lets watch the number plummet to insure locals are not entitled to our own salmon.

So if were are doing all this to protect future stocks of salmon, who are we protecting them for?

  1. It sickens us, especially with the way they close a fishery the day it’s supposed to open so they can steal as much tag money as possible from people.
